Painting is an act of exploration, not repetition.
Coby Hurtak works in distinct visual cycles. Each series establishes a specific impression and explores it until the subject is exhausted. Once the conversation with the canvas is finished, a new cycle begins.
Cycle XIII: Echo in Blue (Acrylic and Oil on Canvas)
In the Echo in Blue cycle, Coby Hurtak investigates the interface between land and water. This piece moves away from the rigid geometry of her urban work to explore organic fluidity.
Here, the subject is anchored in a fragmented reality. The artist uses heavy layering to deconstruct the environment: the background dissolves into vertical planes of soft pinks, indigos, and greys, while the water below fractures the reflection into rhythmic ripples. It is a study of stillness amidst movement, where the texture of the paint mimics the shifting nature of the tide.

Cycle XII: Architectures of Hope (Acrylic and Oil on Canvas)
"This painting represents a postmodern visual synthesis between tradition and contemporaneity through a mixed technique of paints that generates a vibrant chromatic effect, where the intense blues of the water interact with the warm tones of the historic buildings in the background. The urban composition combines historic architecture with submerged modern sculptural elements and mural street art, creating a surreal landscape that reflects the cultural stratification of the contemporary city. The style falls within the realm of modern urban illustration with pop influences, where the fluidity of watercolor meets the graphics of street art in a visual narrative that poetically explores the theme of coexistence between historical memory and urban creativity of our times."

Cycle VIII: Cambodia (Acrylic and Oil on Wood)
Inspired by an immersive journey through Cambodia, this cycle acts as a structural study of a landscape defined by two opposing forces: the monumental permanence of its ancient ruins and the vital, shifting rhythm of its remote communities. Moving away from pure abstraction, the artist documents the physical reality of these environments through her signature technique of visual layering. The resulting canvases capture not just the geography of the country, but its atmospheric weight: the humidity, the patina of time, and the vivid bursts of human life against the engulfing nature.

Cycle XI: Urban Rhythms (Acrylic and Oil on Canvas)
"This painting presents an expressionist style characterised by dynamic brushstrokes and vivid colours that evoke a vibrant atmosphere. The arches and perspective depth are rendered with a skilful use of warm and cool tones, creating an emotional contrast. The work conveys energy and movement, making the architectural scene almost dreamlike."

Cycle VII: Artefacts (Acrylic on Wood)
In this deeply atmospheric series, Coby explores the boundaries between the physical world and the subconscious. Architectural fragments, doorways, pillars, and window frames, act as portals, guiding the viewer through fractured, overlapping dimensions. Recurring motifs of suspended books, reflective waters, and watchful birds give the work a quiet, meditative surrealism. Through a masterful use of transparency and bold, contrasting palettes, solid structures become ethereal, inviting us into a space suspended between waking and dreaming.

Cycle IX: Framed Horizons (Acrylic on Canvas)
In this intimate collection of nine 30x30cm canvases, the artist explores the concept of the framed view. Utilizing trompe l'œil techniques, she constructs heavy, textured borders around her subjects—rusted iron portholes with distinct rivets and painted maritime frames. These structural apertures act as visual anchors, inviting the viewer to peer through the heavy permanence of the exterior into fleeting, atmospheric coastal memories. Whether capturing the tension of a sail catching the wind, the quiet weight of a moored boat, or a weathered hut on a Saint-Tropez beach, the series focuses on the tension between the rigid container and the fluid landscape within.

Cycle II: Indonesian market (Lithography)
Through a dynamic composition of sweeping curves and overlapping, saturated forms, this piece captures the bustling, rhythmic energy of an Indonesian marketplace. The bold, stratified use of contrasting warm and cool inks highlights the medium's capacity for luminous layering, while the quiet, elongated silhouettes anchor the vivid abstraction with a subtle human presence.

Cycle III: Diving (Lithography)
The submerged, shifting ecosystems of sunken wrecks serve as the conceptual foundation for these lithographs. Through profound, meticulous layering, Coby translates the chromatic shifts of deep water and the wave-distorted play of light into resonant, atmospheric compositions.
